Recently decided that 2012 will be the year i start a new project. After spending a month in japan the one car that stood out for me was Kumakubo's old gd impreza. I picked up a bare 04 STI shell and have been slowly working out how to transfer the Nissan running gear i had been stockpiling for the past year. The plan is to run an rb25 neo motor and box as well as a gtr diff and drive shafts. Also a hybrid Nissan/Subaru suspension set up.

Shell hanging out in its new home. Being able to push it around the shed makes life real easy!

The engine bay dimensions are basically identical to a Silvia but with the strut towers further back towards the fire wall. This was the first trial fit just to see how much of the fire wall has to come out.

This is the new position the RB is sitting in now. Required a fair bit of cutting to fit that far back. The mounts will also transfer down to the tubular front cross member, should be enough to hold everything together.

Decided to go a different way with engine mounts. The standard Subaru cross member is a disaster so il make a tubular cross member and mount the rack and engine off it as close to the sump as possible.

While we were in japan we thought we should check out one of the biggest body kit manufactures in the world. Even though there kits don't sit right with alot of people the way the real kits looked and were made was pretty awesome. They still have all the demo cars from the early 2000's sitting in the shop. Everything covered in a film of fiberglass and bog dust. They were developing a new kit for a BMW for this years T.A.S and will only clean the shop once its done.

After breaking a driveshaft at the last project d day iv gone standard r32 GTR rear end. They are a mechanical 1.5 way from factory so this will have to do until i can hopefuly find a cheap 2way in Japan.

Heres the pics and basic instructions on what to do!

Basically strip your current setup back to bare s13 knucles. Make sure the stock knuckle is clean and where the hub locates is smooth, clean and free of rust and grime

Bolt the GTR hubs to your stock knuckle. They have 4 bolts as seen that go in from the back of the hub. Use a bit of bearing grease on the splines to help get the drive shafts in and spin freely.

You can see the difference in thickness of the GTR actual shaft (left) as well as the hub end of the spline. The drive shafts are also threaded where they join the diff removing the original nut and bolt configuration. They are still 6 bolt but everything is much thicker.

This is a stock r32 GTR diff as it came out of the sub frame

The stock gtr tailshaft connects to this billet machined flange. This will need to be removed and swaped for your stock r200 flange to keep your existing tailshaft. The nut will undo pretty easily but the flange will need to be tapped out with a hammer.

The next step is to remove the back aluminium finned cover plate and swap it with the one off your R200 diff. This will allow it to bolt into your stock s13 subframe.

The gtr uses a total of 4 bolts rubber bushed allowing the diff to move. S13's are solid mounted in the cradel using 6 bolts as seen above. The front bushings on the Gtr diff will need to be packed down above the diff with washers as well as bellow. Alternativly you can Make or purchase alloy solid bushes, which is what il be doing.

The gap between the subframe and the diff mount will need to be packed out with washers and a longer bolt used with you plan to keep the factory rubber bush setup

There was alot of hype surrounding this years event and it definatly proved to be one of the years best. Apart from a few delays and communication issues everything seemed to go pretty smoothly. Car presentation was unreal from both the drifters and time attack guys. Always come back from this event with a million ideas. Mad Mikes Rx7 is in a league of its own and Nigels ute had a crowd surrounding it all day.

The entry list for this years Int Drift Challenge is nearly as impressive as the time attack list itself. Some of the big names include Gaz Whitter, Mad Mike Whidett Danny Vahoumis, Josh Boettcher, Rob White, Nigel Petrie, Josh Coote, Luke Fink and locals Beau Yates and James "Jabbott" Abbott.

There has been alot of hype on the forums about Australia's newest national drifting competition with people both loving and hating the format. Despite all the bull shit that comes from people on the Internet, at the end of the day its a national series which in my opinion can only be a good thing. Everybody is in the same boat, and all the info on what is and isn't aloud is pretty easy to find. One of the better ideas is the inclusion of entrant sponsor templates which should help out a few people when they approach business's for some help.

Three events are locked in for 2011 before moving to a 5-Round series in 2012.

EASTERN CREEK BOOSTS FACILITIES WITH $9 MILLION

Sydney's Eastern Creek International Raceway will expand its services and facilities following the announcement of a $9 million circuit upgrade - with $7 million of the funding provided by the NSW Government.

The funding, jointly announced by the NSW Government and The Australian Race Drivers Club (ARDC), will increase the circuit's capacity and track configurations to four different layouts - with two circuits able to operate independently.

Critical to the upgrade will be a lengthening of the circuit to accommodate the multi-purpose layout and an additional pit lane to support the two-circuit configuration.

Apart from providing much needed capacity for racing, following the closure of Oran Park, the upgrades are expected to inject an additional $4 million dollars directly into the local economy and provide 60 full time jobs during construction.

Upgrades will also allow Eastern Creek Raceway to increase its support to the local community, providing a permanent venue for drifting and other off-street racing activities.

Australian Racing Drivers' Club President Andrew Leithhead thanked the Government for this investment in the facility and recognized the positive impact on community activity.

"Eastern Creek International Raceway currently operates at full capacity year-round - providing facilities for driver training, cycling, concerts and other community activities, in addition to motorsport," Mr Leithead said.

"This investment by the government will allow the ARDC to expand the capacity of the track to service demand from both club-level motorsport and broader community needs.

"The circuit upgrades will also allow us to service the growing demands for race circuits since the closure of other permanent circuits in Sydney."

ARDC Chief Executive Officer, Glenn Matthews said the extensions will double the capacity of the track.

"This will allow two or more track activities to be held concurrently," Mr Matthews said.

"The project will allow for a significant expansion of driver training capacity - in a safe, controlled environment.

"Currently local youth often come to the raceway on a Friday night to 'drift'.

"With the additional capacity this can become a permanent event, giving the youth of Sydney a permanent venue to drift legally and safely in a controlled environment."

Epic weekend, lots of looseness and rukusing of Benella. Camo drove well but broke a diff and stub axel whilst batteling Nigel. Schembri smoked the track and was unlucky to get done by Fine. Josh qualified well and got burned on a technicality! Jabs had an unlucky spin during his battles but killed in some passener runs! Freezing weather also proved to be a bitch on the nsw cars as none would start on e85.

R34 neo rb25 turbo set up for sale!

Hey guys i have the whole turbo side (manifold, oil and water lines, return pipe, whole deal!) of an R34 rb25 neo motor for sale. the turbo and everything looks to be in aswome condition visually, hardly any shaft play and has been covered with rags the entire time the engine has been out of the car. I have never seen it running so i cant say 100% the condition of the turbo but i no the motor came out of a stock car with 70,000 kms on it so it should be sweet!

Made a jig so suit cusco sunroof model s13 cages too so if any body wants a set they can be supplied bolt in ready to go with only a small cut required on the door card to make them fit!

After smashing a box at Wakefield a few months ago felt like burning the car but finally did some work on it lately, got an auto bellhousing cut and shut on the front of a z32 box, modified the shifter to come out of the tunnel in the standard position and started on the box mount. Now just waiting for a Tailshaft and a quick retune and off to powercruise!

Powered by max knuckle kit arrived so they have been welded up and cleaned, iv also sectioned the lower control arms and boxed them in. The kit came with adjustable bump stop plate so after a bit of testing I should be able to find a good balance with no binding...........

The car is still in desperate need of a tune, that should be sorted in the next few weeks with the new cams and e85. . The last time it was out i had a heap of binding issues and general problems with steering which would result in the wheel getting stuck on lock and me having to stop and either reverse or roll forward to get the wheel to come around. I think it started after fitting the new drift teks at the front, Put the car on the hoist and grabbed a sledgy and started bashing everywhere it looked like hitting. Have started making some adjustable lock stoppers to help temporarily stop the binding until i get some knuckles. With only Kazama Tie rod ends and S14 Kazama tie rods its got some pretty decent lock now........

Welded up a few cracks in the sump, apparently i didn't do enough. Ripple strips suck....

Most of The Cars and Characters Represent Something in Space.

The Guy on the bicycle = The Earth.

The Cars at 1:50 are the Stars.

The White Car at About 4:10 = The Moon.

(notice how it dissappears like the moon cycle)

Finnally the car at 7:25 is the Sun.

When The Earth Turns at 7:31 is when there is a Vernal Equinox.

Got in a bit of trouble during scruitenieering at eastern creek the other day for having a fuel cell and openings in the parcel shelf. Should be all good now!

Few things turned up in the mail today. HKS cam gears, BC valve springs and Ti retainers also a DIF dual fan controller. Cams are due this Wednesday then i think its all going to power tune for a few days with a tank full of E85!

Got my copy of the Club Outrun DvD today in the mail. Was pretty sweet, defiantly worth watching. Makes me pretty keen to get the ball rolling on a trip to japan early next year! Hey guys, i just had a look at the hit counter and i see that its nearing 1000 hits. Although it will hopefully grow to many more i think we should do something for it and seen as i have a brand new un opened drift central 4 dvd i think i might have a give away! There will be some sort of competion but it will be very easy. Something free to look forward to anyways.

have been pretty slack lately so here's a few shots i have on my computer that i stumbled across today. I'm sure they've done the rounds on blogs before because that's more than likely where i saved em from! Anyways, there will some more updates this week as most of the boys have been pretty busy. I had the shits with my car this month so i haven't touched it much, does have a new fuel set up and cams in the mail but!Most of my attentions been on the new tow pig and its nearly ready to go!
